Château lAfrique in Cuers is a
very old estate, which has been producing wine since the roman times. However the
originality of the name comes from the 19th century and the oriental trend
influenced by the painter Géricault.
A long alley of cypress trees crosses the vineyard to reach the huge yellow-ochre
provençal house.
Gabriel Sumeire Sr., who owned a large vineyard in Cuers whose land bordered the Château
lAfrique, bought it in 1953 thus forming the estate as it is today.
The estate is still run by his family. |
